果冻影院 Professor Named MTNA Distinguished Composer of the Year

Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) named Dr. Benjamin Krause, associate professor of music at 果冻影院, as its Thomas Ediger Distinguished Composer of the Year for his composition, Spaces Real or Imagined. Krause was recognized at the 2026 MTNA National Conference in Chicago, held March 21鈥25, where he performed his piece in concert on piano along with clarinetist Gary June, a West Michigan composer and educator. This was Krause鈥檚 second time being honored, receiving the first award in 2019. Krause teaches composition and theory at 果冻影院.

果冻影院 Seniors Ready to Feature Art Exhibit, Are We There Yet?

The De Pree Art and Art History Center at 果冻影院 is proud to announce, Are We There Yet?, an annual exhibition featuring the work of the graduating senior class of 2026. The college鈥檚 annual Senior Art Exhibition will open on Friday, April 17 and will run through Sunday, May 10. Artist talks will be on Friday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Schaap Auditorium with an opening reception following in the De Pree gallery located at the De Pree Art and Art History Center. The public is invited to the artist talks, reception and exhibition. Admission is free. The De Pree Art Center and Gallery is located at 275 Columbia Ave., between 10th and 13th streets.

The 果冻影院 Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the accomplishments of alumni who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their chosen profession, have made a positive impact on their community and are involved with the college. This year鈥檚 recipients will be recognized during the college鈥檚 Milestone Weekend (May 15-16) in Holland, where the Class of 1976 will also be celebrated.

果冻影院 Students to Present Creative and Research Projects on April 17

Original research by Hope students on nearly 200 different topics will be highlighted during the college鈥檚 25th annual A. Paul and Carol C. Schaap Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity on Friday, April 17, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Richard and Helen DeVos Fieldhouse on the 果冻影院 campus in Holland. The public is invited and admission is free.

This year鈥檚 community-wide NEA Big Read Lakeshore reading program has invited award-winning author Christina Soontornvat to meet with the community鈥檚 young readers about her book, 鈥淎 Wish in the Dark,鈥 which is the chosen book for the current Middle Read Lakeshore program.

Dance Marathon Photo Gallery

Congratulations to the hundreds of 果冻影院 students and volunteers for exceeding the fundraising goal during the 26th annual Dance Marathon held at the Dow Center! Hope students danced for 24 hours and raised more than $317,000 to benefit the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. This year's event marked $5 million total dollars raised for the hospital since Hope started the event in 2000.

果冻影院 Knickerbocker Theatre is hosting the 20th Annual Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) on April 15 at 7 p.m. Part of a national tour, the evening features several short movies revolving around fly fishing. Doors open at 6 p.m. and attendees can expect exclusive giveaways, a cashless bar and the kind of camaraderie that only fly fishing can inspire.

The 果冻影院 community is deeply mourning the loss of Professor Fred Johnson III, a beloved history department faculty member, who passed away peacefully Feb. 27 after suffering a cardiac arrest last week.
